My doctor doesn’t even PLAY golf!…and still the AMA and the California Medical Association pressure him to have NOTHING but golfing magazines in his lobby and patient room at all times!…
They made him cancel his subscriptions to:Martha Stewart Living, Road and Track, Car and Driver, Sunset, etc. and signred him up for golfing lessons(which he tried to cancel out on, but got threatened w/ his medical license revocation if he did that!)…
Also, why the strictly-enforced stereotype of doctors playing golf on Wednesdays?…

Thats a good question. I have never heard of a doctor being threatened to subscribe to a golf magazine. However. to answer your question about golf on Wednesdays, years ago when doctors worked on Saturday which was pretty close to the same time they would actually make house calls, they tried to keep a fairly normal work week. So, since they worked on Saturday, they decided that Wednesday would be a good day to take of in order to try to stay around a 50 hour week. In addition to office hours, they also had to make hospital rounds and see their patients. This included Wednesdays, so they actually did work on Wednesday, even though it was a shorter day. The lucky ones got to play golf.
My doctor here in Arcadia(CA) has been told by the local community to have ONLY golfing magazines in his lobby too…
His doctors’ group has kept giving him golf club memberships every year on BOTH his birthday AND Christmas, and he keeps cancelling them, because HE HATES GOLF!!!…but they don’t want to hear THAT from him…
He’s a car buff, but instead of driving a “rich doc’s” car, he drives a Scion xA(which he told me is no longer being made after this month!)…the other docs are MAD at him for NOT flaunting his wealth;in fact, he lives in an apartment in nearby Duarte(I praise him for being such a frugal doctor!)…
So don’t worry about what your doc’s going through, just praise him for sticking to his frugality!…and to HECK w/ the snob doctors in town!…
